Sam - 17

Cont...

Avery held the phone next to Steve's mouth and motioned for him to breathe deeply. She had no doubt that Stark was tracing the call. She was fairly certain he would give them the medical attention they needed whether he would arrest them was another matter entirely.

"Steve? You sound awful." Tony's voice came through on speaker.

Sam and Bucky were both on edge, either this would work or they would get blasted out of the sky.
"I kinda- have- internal bleeding-" Steve wheezed eyes closed using all his energy to get clear sentences out.

"Internal bleeding? What did you do?" Tony asked, sounding both shocked and scolding almost like a parent to a young child.

"Long- story-" Steve was getting quieter now. "Need- clearance-"

"For what?" Tony asked before Steve could answer Tony spoke again, "You do realize that if the airspace radar catches you you'll become smithereens above the harbor?" So he knew where they were now.

"Yeah- clearance," Steve mumbled.

"Absolutely not! I don't have the pull with the airspace administration! I can't just give you those codes!" Tony sounded more distraught than angry. He was right though, he didn't have the reach to let them land over New York. He did have the power to let them land upstate though.

"Tony- please-" Steve was getting really quiet now.

There was a long moment of silence before Tony huffed, "Head upstate medical personnel will be waiting for you. I'll give you the coordinates and clearance codes."

"Thanks," Steve whispered.

Avery pulled the phone away and flipped it off the speaker, "Mr. Stark? I'm ready for those codes."
Stark rattled off the codes and coordinates before saying he needed to alert medical and abruptly hanging up on her.

"I have the codes!" Avery said, going to stand before collapsing from the screaming pain in her abdomen and arm.

"Avery!" Max just about fell out of his chair turning around to try and see her yet unable to help with the jet about to go over New York airspace.

"Hey, stay down," Sam said, easing her back to the floor.

"I'm fine, it's nothing, I'm fine," Avery mumbled laying down.

"I need those codes!" Max called as they could now faintly see the glow of the city that never slept on the horizon, his attention split between making sure they didn't get blown out of the sky and Avery. Avery held out her tablet and Bucky handed it to Max.

"Alright, I'm gonna take a look at your abdomen. This might hurt." Sam warned pulling her jacket away there was glass and blood pooled around her middle. "You must have gotten it when you crashed through the window. I can't pull it out without running the risk of you bleeding out." Sam said looking at her arm next, same situation, glass, and burns.

"How thoughtful of you," Avery muttered.

"Well, that's what you get for diving arm first into a window." Sam shot back.

Avery rolled her eyes as they fell back into a normal banter, "Shut up you don't always have to be right."
