Sam - 9

Cont...

They were finished restocking when a knock came from the door. Sam and Bucky shared a look before Sam called, "Come in."

Avery came in quietly, "Almost ready?"

"Yeah, we'll be out of your hair soon," Sam said sliding a gun into his holster as Bucky finished stowing a set of knives in his boot, yanking his pant leg over them.

Avery frowned, "You're going like this?"

"Well the wings are kinda flashy plus they’re impounded per se by Ross so yeah, we're going like this." Sam nodded, pulling on his jacket, "Why?"

Avery's frown deepened before she turned and walked out, "Come on."

Bucky and Sam shared an I-have-no-clue-what's-going-on look before following her.

Past labs and then past empty storage spaces till finally, they came to a door that Avery unlocked. The room was a mess of old stuff, forgotten designs. Avery flipped on the single sad light bulb and moved some of the dusty boxes from one wall. Then she gave the wall a sharp kick and the wall slid up to reveal a showcase almost.

Sam gasps at the sight of the two FALCON suits hanging side by side. He came forward slowly, hands shaking.

"We were creating them for you and him before you went into the jaws of death. They've been a side hobby of mine over the years. With some alterations, I think one could be fitted for you." Avery directed the last part to Bucky.

"I'm flattered but I don't fly," Bucky said quickly the thought of being that high up making him nauseous.

"Yeah, he doesn't do heights," Sam said over his shoulder taking one suit down.

"Alright well, Max has offered to fly you in and I realized that you'll need a hacker to get you in so your rescue party just jumped to four," Avery said.

"Thank you," Bucky said seriously.

Avery gave him a small smile and nodded before turning back to Sam who was still having a moment holding his new wings.

"You should take the other wings," Sam said abruptly.

"Pardon me?" Avery asked, doing a double-take.

"You heard me, you should take the other pair up. He would want you to have them plus you probably know them better than me since you created them. Safety precaution." Sam said taking the other wings down and holding them out to her.

Avery was shocked, "I don't think I could. I haven't flown since the accident."

"Just in case," Sam said, placing the others in her hands.

Avery closed her eyes and sighed, "Fine. We can get to Ireland by tomorrow night if we leave now."

Bucky nodded, already moving for the door, "Let's go."
