Sam - 11

Cont...

Jogging down the halls Avery was trusting her senses of direction from the map she'd seen. Steve was doing his best to keep up but had taken a beating. In spite of that, he was doing well and hadn't said a thing about the probably broken rib he had his hand clamped around as they jogged.

Avery found the control room and opened the door. The one security guard was out before he hit the floor. Closing the door behind them Steve collapsed into a chair and let out a small groan closing his eyes a moment.

"You good?" Avery asked, yanking her hood down, retracting her goggles and pulling down the cloth mask that covers her nose and mouth.

Steve grimaced and nodded, "Just get me out of here."

Avery turned to the bank of counsels, "Then let's get to work."

She made quick work of the firewalls and video cameras. She crashed their frequency jammer and contacted Sam and Bucky, "You're getting a schematics layout now. You'll have forty-five seconds to get from where you are to the control room we are in before the sensors catch you. Tell me when you're ready."

"Schematics received, getting ready now," Sam said.

"Don't forget to factor in the time it'll take to evaporate the excess water from your suits, I don't want to leave a trail." Avery reminded, assessing all the systems.

"Copy that." Bucky said, "We' re ready."

"What exactly are you doing?" Steve asked watching as she synced the commands to lift all the security measures.

"Someone's going to notice you're gone eventually we're just making it more confusing. Three, two, one, now!" Avery said eyes trained on the screen.
The measures receded and Avery started muttering times, "45 seconds. 30, hurry up. 15." Her voice backed more strained.
They were still too far out. "10." Part of her really thought they weren't going to make it. A pin could drop and be heard in that room.

The door flew open and Sam and Bucky practically fell inside and closed the door, "Done."

Avery chuckled as the two men untangled themselves and hopped up pulling off hoods and masks. They were still soaked but fortunately, there was no trail.

The three men embraced quickly not caring that there was blood or water or filth. "Alright, boys hate to break this up but break out now hug later, Kay?" Avery said over her shoulder.

"You good?" Sam asked as they all stepped back as Avery said.

"I've been better." Steve evaded.

Sam frowned digging in his bag and pulled out an infusion gun, "This'll spike your metabolism and help you heal. It'll also mask your pain for a short while till we get out of here." Sam put it up to Steve's neck and injected him.

A moment later Steve's eyes got wide, "Wow. That's a rush." He shook his head and blinked hard.

 "Ready to go?" Avery asked.

"I think so," Bucky said looking over a better looking Steve as he handed him a handgun.

"Good. Slaving their system to ours," Avery said, holding her tablet letting the data sync, "And for the finishing touch." She pulled out the data drive that had started this whole fiasco and plugged it into the mainframe. It went into chaos. She secured it again with a grin packing up her stuff quickly.

"Hitting them with their own virus. That is cruel, cruel but classy." Sam shook his head as she strapped her pack back on and pulled the mask and hood on.

Avery shot him a smile before the cloth covered it, "Let's move."
