As it turned out answers were not to be James'.

Fury had been serious when he'd said not to trust anyone and after being attacked by his own support team James had no trust left.

He'd sadly dumped the Captain uniform since he was sure it was tracking. He'd almost dumped the shield but he couldn't bear to leave it. If he held it tightly and closed his eyes it was almost like his friend was there fighting with him. So he'd dumped it in water and prayed it would fry any tracking device and had hidden it before going back to the hospital.

He'd been able to scrounge up money from his pockets for some civilian clothing so that he didn't look odd. Head down away from video cameras, it was only a matter of time until the whole government was man hunting him. He was good, just not that good.

He came to a stop in front of the vending machine and his stomach dropped. The bubblegum was empty. Before the panic could set in a loud pop sounded from behind him. In the reflection of the glass, Natasha was smirking at him while she blew bubbles with the gum. James whipped around and grabbed her shoving her into an empty side room away from eyes and ears.
 "Where is it?" James snarled.

"Safe. Why did you have it?" Natasha fired back.

"I need it now." James snapped releasing her.

"Fury gave it to you, why?" Natasha realized aloud.

"Stop playing games!" James hissed beyond frustrated with the mortally grey spy.

"I only act like I know everything, Barnes." Natasha retorted, sounding almost genuinely hurt.

James huffed in frustration she played mind games, manipulated emotions, that was her power per se, and emotions were high right now.

"I know who killed Fury," Natasha said, voice serious.

James looked back at her sharply.

"Most people don't believe he exists, the ones that do call him the Winter Soldier. Rumor has it he's responsible for the biggest assassinations of the last half-century. JFK, Martin Luther King Jr. all of them. I'm one of the few that has survived him. I was escorting an engineer out of Odessa but we got run off the road and then the Soldier shot my man," Natasha lifted her shirt just an inch or two to reveal a scar in her belly, "Right out from under me. Bye-bye bikinis."

James snorted at the last part, "Yeah dramatic, you must look hideous."

Natasha smiled at that but then it was gone, "He's a ghost story. You don't try going after him without getting killed, I've tried."

She held up the flash drive and James took it, tapping it on his hand considering it, "Then let's see what the ghost wants."
