If James knew punching Nat would wipe that infuriating smirk off her face he would but it wouldn't so he focused on the road.

"Where did the greatest generation man learn how to steal a car?" Natasha ask propping up her feet.

"Nazi Germany." James said, remembering how Dum Dum had taught them in the heat of the battle how to hotwire any sort of vehicle, "And get your feet off the dash, we’re borrowing."

Natasha gave him a look that could only be described as a 'yes dad' look and took them down. "Can I ask you a question? And you don't have to answer but if you don't I feel like you are..." Natasha rambled.

James rolled his eyes, "Spit it out."

Natasha wore a goody-two-shoes grin, "Was that your first kiss since 1943?"

James sighed which came out more like a groan.

"You don't have to! I'm just curious how much practice you've had." Natasha said, still grinning.

James gave her a look of amusement, "You don't need practice."

"Everyone needs practice." Natasha shot back.

"That is not my first kiss since 1943," James said, shutting down that lane of conversation not liking where it was going.

"Still the ladies man, the history books take about Eh?" Natasha was wearing that grin that made James want to punch her.

James sighed looking out the window. He hadn't been that in a long time, not since before he got shipped out, not since there was a reason.

Natasha's maddening smile faded, "But no one special?"

"Not unless you're volunteering. Believe it or not, it's hard to find shared life experiences." James said looking back at the road.

Natasha laughed but not in a bad way, "Why don't you make something up?"

James shrugged, "A relationship is based on a series of giving and taking. If you aren't truthful it doesn't work. Besides you're right, I am a terrible liar."

Natasha laughed again, "True."

There was silence as they drove into New Jersey.

"So what do you know about this place?" Natasha asked as it got darker.

They are almost there, where this whole nightmare started.

James refused to look at her knowing his face would betray him, "Before I got shipped out you were sent to training camp. The source of this signature is the same camp I was trained."

"So we're coming home for you," Natasha said quietly.

James closed his eyes for a moment.

"I'm home!!" Bucky had hollered dumping his duffle on the hardwood of his family home. He was bone-tired from training camp and all he wanted was to get out of his stuffy brand new uniform and sleep his own bed upstairs but he knew that his family would always come first.

"Buckyyyyyy!!!!!" Becka shrieked, launching herself from a few feet away into his arms.

"Hey! You grew!" Bucky laughed twirling her around before setting her down.

"You look like you got run over." The Irene sassed as she came in for a hug as well.

Bucky chuckled and hugged her, "Welcome home to you too."

"James let me see you." His mother said as her two eldest pulled apart.

She took both Bucky's hands in hers and looked him over for a moment before hugging him tightly, "So good to have you back."

Bucky forced his smile to stay as he closed his eyes and held her.

"If the girls were swooning before they'll be downright giddy now." They pulled apart at the light teasing tone. Steve stood there in clothes that were too big hands in his pockets that swallowed his tiny hands grinning that stupid grin of his.

Bucky smirked, "I might even be able to get you a girl."

Steve burst out laughing as they embraced, "Not with my skinny butt."

"He's got a point." The Irene said with a smile.

"Hey!" Steve cried with a grin.

Bucky burst out laughing sliding one arm over his best friend's shoulder and grabbing his duffle from Becka who had dragged it over to him, "Ah, its good to be home."

James shook his head, throwing himself back into this century. The Fort was coming up and it was getting dark. Natasha was still watching him, waiting for an answer.

James looked out the window into the darkness to only see his own longing expression looking back at him, "No. We're not."
